"God is a Verbâ is inspired by my favorite verse in the Bible, Exodus 3:14. Moses, witnessing the Burning Bush, has a conversation with God and says, "God, I think I understand who you are but how am I supposed to explain who you are to these stubborn, dysfunctional, Children of Israel? God replies, "Tell the Israelites that I donât live in a tree, I donât live in a rock, I donât live inside of an animal and guess what, Moses - I donât live upstairs either. I am a verb. I am the ongoing process of creativity in the universe and my name is the essence of who I am. My name is, I Am, or, I Am That I Am, or, I Am Becoming What I Shall Be!â
What I like about this verse is that Orthodox Jews get it and Christians understand it; secular people love the concept, and even atheists can embrace it. The concept of God being a verb is very ancient and also New Age. The verse finds common ground with almost everybody.
I also believe that love is a verb and art is a verb. These are all processes of creativity and growth.
