S.I.R. Sherman Infinity Ring by Charles Sherman
S.I.R. Sherman Infinity Ring
Two revolution Infinity Ring
Sterling silver finger ring
2007
The Sherman Infinity Ring was inspired by the work of artist M.C. Escher and mathematician A. F. Moebius - yet is entirely unique. I arrived at the ring’s design after months of experimentation and perfected it assisted by a computer program. My final design incorporated a circle, an equilateral triangle, and an infinity sign - all in one form. From the front view, It appears to be an O-ring or circle. From the side view, it is an equilateral triangle. From the top, it’s a figure eight-format infinity sign. To finally transform the Sherman Infinity Ring into three dimensions, I created the form in clay and made a ceramic sculpture.
Like all of my infinity ring designs, it has only one edge, and one plane. Touch any point on the ring with your fingertip and trace the edge of the planes that encircle the Sherman Infinity Ring. After tracing two complete revolutions you will have traced the circumference of both the inner and outer circles within the Infinity Ring.
Because of its revolutionary design - the narrow infinity twist on its bottom edge - the ring is very comfortable to wear, yet makes a dramatic statement with the wide expanse of high polish silver on its top. This ring is a miniature sculpture to wear.
The Sherman Infinity Ring finger ring evokes ancient Feng Shui principles and promote infinite love, abundance, healing, harmony, and serenity.
The S.I.R. Sherman Infinity Ring is made by the traditional lost wax method and is hand cast and hand polished.
